Martin Royle has been called the "paradigmatic indie rocker" (Washington Post)... but fans of his "manic live show" (The Onion) might disagree with that assessment. Some people come for his aggressively inventive lyrics, a combination of accessible subject matter (sex, drinking, time travel) and Martin's personal brand of whimsy. Others come to see arguably today's best young showman in American rock 'n roll. Martin's music has been featured widely on television including recent episodes of Gossip Girl, Entourage and Eli Stone. In January, Martin parted ways with his longtime band, critical and fan favorites Washington Social Club, to begin work on his first solo album Good Morning, Cruel World.
